Its leaves are large and shine in a rich green. This beautiful plant is native to South Africa, but it is also often found in the wild in the Canary Islands, Madeira and the Azores. It is closely related to the Strelitzia Reginae, which is also called the bird of paradise or parrot flower. Depending on location and age, Strelitzia nicolai can also flower as an indoor plant. The flowers consist of a large, palmate upper leaf and usually three white sepals and three blue petals.
