The skimmia (Skimmia) belongs to the rue family (Rutaceae). Due to its origin, it is a frugal, frost-hardy garden plant even in our country. This skimmia shows itself quite colorful, not only by its brown-red buds in autumn and winter, which develop into white-pink flowers, but also by its dark gray-green leaves, the stems of which have a reddish tinge. The plant tolerates shade extremely well, it is urban climate tolerant and frost hardy, although winter protection is beneficial.
