It owes its name to the special shape of its colourful flowers, which resemble the beak and feathers of a bird of paradise in profile. Its leaves are large and of a rich green. This unique plant is native to South Africa, but it is also often found in the wild in the Canary Islands, Madeira and the Azores. Despite its magnificent flowers, the bird of paradise flower is very easy to care for. It blooms from spring to summer, with appropriate care even from February.
