Although the name suggests it, the Hawaiian Palm (Brighamia insignis) is not a palm tree. It belongs to the bellflower family (Campanulaceae) and is actually a succulent. It is also called volcano palwith Originally it comes from Hawaii, where it grows in rock crevices and on basalt cliffs near the sea. Unfortunately, its population is declining in the wild, making this highly decorative houseplant hard to come by. Hawaiian palm maintains a dormant period over the summer, when it sheds its leaves
