The Szechuan pepper, also known as pepper bush, originally comes from Asia, more precisely from China, Taiwan, Japan and Korea. It is easy to care for and winter-hardy and is also a very popular plant in European gardens, especially because of its fruits with their unique aroma. The shrub can grow between 2 and 4 meters high. Kept small, the plant is therefore also very well suited for terrace or balcony. The fruits are ripe in October and November and can then be stored or immediately ground (e.g. in a pepper mill or with a mortar) and used for seasoning dishes.
